Disney+ has given us many amazing series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there’s another one on the way! The first trailer for the Hawkeye spin-off Echo is here, and this series will debut under the study’s brand-new Marvel Spotlight banner.
Echo centers on Alaqua Cox’s character Maya Lopez aka Echo, who was introduced in the original Hawkeye series. Her stand-alone series will see her return to her hometown in Oklahoma, where she must come to terms with her past and reconnect with her roots.
Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox will reprise their roles as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin and Matt Murdock / Daredevil from Netflix’s Daredevil series. The supporting cast will also include Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Graham Greene, Cody Lightning, Devery Jacobs, and Zahn McClarnon.
Marvel Studios’ head of streaming Brad Winderbaum revealed that Echo will debut under the new Marvel Spotlight banner. He promised this new banner will bring more grounded, character-driven stories to the screen, and focus on street-level stakes over larger MCU continuity.
“Just like comics fans didn’t need to read Avengers or Fantastic Four to enjoy a Ghost Rider Spotlight comic, our audience doesn’t need to have seen other Marvel series to understand what’s happening in Maya’s story,” said Winderbaum in a statement.
