Here comes Genie!

Disney has finally dropped another trailer for Aladdin during the Grammys on Sunday night. This trailer comes months after Disney released the first teaser-trailer for its live-action remake of the 1992 animated hit.

This trailer, however, finally reveals the highly anticipated character of Will Smith as the magical Genie. Even though we only get a short glimpse of Smith’s Genie, we can say that it is a somewhat surprising bulked-up blue Genie. Smith takes on the character of Genie who was voiced by legendary Robin Williams in the original film.

Also featured in the trailer are Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar. Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar also star in the film.

Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie from a script penned by John August. The film will feature original songs as well as some new music from Alan Menken. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are producing, and Marc Platt and Kevin De La Noy serve as executive producers.

The original Aladdin was the highest-grossing film of 1992 year and the first animated feature to reach the half-billion mark. It was the highest-grossing animated film of all-time until surpassed by The Lion King in 1994. The animated film also won two Academy Awards and a Grammy for Song of the Year.

Aladdin flies into theaters May 24, 2019.
