Percy Jackson and the Olympians is one of the most exciting new shows coming to Disney+ this year, and expectations are getting higher every day. Disney+ just added some more fuel to the fire by dropping the new teaser trailer that gives us a glimpse of Percy Jackson’s first big adventure.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians centers on a twelve-year-old modern demigod, who’s trying to come to terms with his newfound divine powers. His life only gets more complicated when Zeus accuses him of stealing his mighty lightning bolt, and Percy must join forces with his friends Grover and Annabeth in order to restore it.
The Percy Jackson books have already been adapted to the big screen before, but expectations are running higher this time around because the author Rick Riordan was very involved with this adaptation from the get-go.
“So, I feel comfortable telling fans of the books who have been waiting — in some cases, decades — for this kind of faithful adaptation, that this is the one you’ve been waiting for. We are involved and I think you’re gonna love it,” Riordan told Entertainment Weekly.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians stars Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover, and it will premiere on Disney+ on December 20.
