It’s been about two months since the first season of Willow came to an end on Disney+, and it seems we won’t be getting the second one. The streaming giant canceled this fantasy adventure series after a single season, but they might revisit it in the future.

Willow serves as a sequel to Ron Howard’s 1988 film of the same name, which originally starred Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley, and Warwick Davis. Davis returned to reprise his role for the original in this sequel series as aspiring sorcerer Willow, who embarks on a dangerous quest with a group of unlikely heroes.

In addition to Davis, the series also starred Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Tony Revolori, Amar Chadha-Patel, and Dempsey Bryk.

Despite its recent cancelation, Willow is still an important assent in the Lucasfilm library, and its showrunner Jonathan Kasdan hinted it might return in the future, but it’s unclear when.

“I am confident I speak for everyone involved when I say that we’d all like nothing more than to deliver Volume 2, on the scale expected and demanded by the story we’re telling. Are we going into pre-production? Not right now. Does that mean we’re never gonna make it? Absolutely not,” he wrote on Twitter.
