Doja Cat set several Spotify records with her smash hit “Paint the Town Red”, and it was just a matter of time before this catchy bop hit No. 1. This song finally reached the peak of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the rapper’s first solo single and second overall to top the chart.

“Paint the Town Red” attracted 32.1 million radio airplay audience impressions, 27.7 million streams, and 8,000 downloads during its most recent week on the chart. It took it about a month to reach the top, after it initially debuted at No. 15 following its release on August 4.

“Paint the Town Red” marks Doja Cat’s first solo single to reach no. 1 in the US and second overall. She previously hit No. 1 with the “Say So” remix featuring Nicki Minaj. This viral track also happens to be the first rap song to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in over a year, since Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” in August last year.

“Pain the Town Red” was released as the second single from Doja Cat’s upcoming album Scarlet. It will hit the shelves on September 22 and feature a total of 15 songs, including previously released singles “Attention” and “Demons”.
