Space Jam 2 has just scored a major addition to its cast.

Don Cheadle has been tapped to star in Warner Bros’ sequel to the 1996 hit, which is currently in production.

While Cheadle’s casting has been confirmed, no further details are known about which role he’s set to play.

Cheadle joins LeBron James in the follow-up to the original that starred Michael Jordan and featured cameos from a number of NBA all-stars who starred alongside classic Looney Tunes characters. The original was a major hit grossing over $230M at the global box office.

Cheadle currently stars in the 1980s-set Showtime comedy Black Monday. He also starred in the second-biggest-grossing film of all time, Avengers: Endgame. His upcoming projects include the sci-fi drama series Don’t Look Deeper for Quibi.

The reboot directed by Terence Nance opens in theaters July 16, 2021.
