Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge to Star in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” Series

Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge are set to star in and executive produce a Mr. & Mrs. Smith series for New Regency and Amazon Prime Video.

The series, co-created with Francesca Sloane, is based on the 2005 film and is set for a 2022 release date.

Glover and Waller-Bridge posted a video to Instagram Stories to make the announcement.

“Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world. It’s truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team.’Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ is an iconic property, and we can’t wait to see how Donald, Phoebe and Francesca make it their own. We’re thrilled to be working with them, and with such great partners at New Regency,” Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement.

The 2005 film directed by Doug Liman and written by Simon Kinberg, starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as a married couple who are rival spies. Mr. & Mrs. Smith was a huge box office success, grossing almost $500 million worldwide.
