Donald Glover Receives 5 Nominations at NAACP Image Awards

After achieving a phenomenal milestone at the Grammy Awards by becoming the first rapper to win video of the year award, Donald Glover was nominated Wednesday for 5 NAACP image Awards.

Glover was nominated for his song, “This is America” in the video category. He received a second nomination for top male performer. He also received three more nominations related to his show, Atlanta. First, he received a nod for his acting and another for his directing work. The FX TV show, which he created, was also nominated for best comedy series.

Winston Duke, who starred in Black Panther, announced the nominees with actress Logan Browning of Dear White People at the Television Critics Association Winter meeting.

Besides Glover, Beyoncé, Lebron James, Chadwick Bosman, and Regina King were nominated in the entertainer of the year category alongside Black Panther’s director Ryan Coogler. The Marvel’s film also got a nomination for best motion picture alongside BlacKkKlansman, If Beale Street Could Talk, The Hate U Give and Crazy Rich Asians.

Notable artists, including Cardi B, who had a great year in the music scene, were conspicuously left out. The award ceremony, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year will be held on March 30 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will be aired live on TV One.
