“Downton Abbey” Sequel Gets a Title & Teaser

Downton Abbey 2 finally gets an official title!

Ladies and gentlemen, or shall we say—lords and ladies, the Downton sequel has a name: Downton Abbey: A New Era. 

The title was revealed in new footage that was unveiled during Universal’s presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas Wednesday night. The teaser also confirmed the film’s release date: March 18, 2022. 

The teaser footage gave audiences a glimpse of the Crawley family and the Downton staff getting ready for a journey overseas but also hinted at a wedding! 

Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Charmichael, and Jim Carter have all returned for A New Era, with new additions to the cast include Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, and Dominic West. Julian Fellowes has also returned penning the screenplay for the movie.

The first film was a total hit grossing $97 million in the domestic box office and $237.9 million worldwide.
