Joshua Jackson will be taking over as the lead in the upcoming Peacock series Dr. Death.

Jamie Dornan was previously announced as the lead, but he had to leave the series due to production delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater are still attached to the project.

Dr. Death is based on the Wondery podcast about the true story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch (Jackson), a rising star in the Dallas medical community who’s young and brilliant. Dr. Duntsch was building a neurosurgery practice until everything started changing and patients who entered his operating room left permanently maimed or dead. As victims started accumulating, neurosurgeon Robert Henderson (Baldwin) and vascular surgeon Randall Kirby (Slater) tried to stop him.

Jackson’s most known for his TV roles in The Affair, Little Fires Everywhere, Dawson’s Creek, When They See Us, and Fringe.

Dr. Death will be executive produced by Patrick McManus, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, Taylor Latham, Hernan Lopez, and Marshall Lewy. Maggie Kiley will direct and executive produce the first two episodes with Jennifer Morrison and So Yong Kim also directing episodes.
