It’s official—Drake has become the first artist ever to surpass 50 billion combined streams on Spotify.

This accomplishment isn’t a total shock as his 2018 song “God’s Plan” alone reached nearly 1.675 billion streams, with many of his other songs racking up hundrend-millions.

This lead is only likely to increase over the coming weeks as his new album, Certified Lover Boy, the follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion is set to drop this month.

Drake was Spotify’s most-streamed artist of the 2010s, with 28 billion streams. Rounding out the top 5 were Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, and Eminem.

In the first 24 hours of its release Scorpion shattered Spotify’s one-day global record for album streams with the album’s tracks totalling 132,450,203 streams.

The Toronto-born artist hinted that a new album was in the works back in April and on August 14 he revealed the album’s title to be Certified Lover Boy alongside the release of “Laugh Now Cry Later” featuring Lil Durk, the first single of the album.

In October, he released a short teaser confirming the album’s title and that it would be released in January 2021.
