Drake finally dropped his brand-new album For All the Dogs this Friday, but this is the last we’ll hear from him for a while. The Canadian rapper announced he’ll take a break from music for at least a year to focus on his health.

Drake shared the news about his hiatus from music during a recent episode on his radio show Table for One on SiriusXM’s Sound 42 and explained why he decided to go down this road.

“I need to focus on my health, first and foremost — and I’ll talk about that soon enough. Nothing crazy, but just like, you know, I want people to be healthy in life, and I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach,” said Drake.

The Canadian hitmaker added he’s “going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit” and said he won’t make any new music for a year or “maybe a little longer.”

This announcement came on the same day when he dropped his eighth solo studio album For All the Dogs. Its release on October 6 was preceded by the chart-topping single “Slime You Out” featuring SZA, while the rest of the album also includes collaborations with 21 Savage, J. Cole, PartyNextDoor, Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, Sexyy Red, and Lil Yachty.
