Jason Reitman’s SNL 1975 will chronicle the making of the very first episode of Saturday Night Live, and its cast is shaping up to be amazing. Lamorne Morris, Dylan O’Brien, Cory Michael Smith, and Matt Wood will play key roles in this high-profile project.

SNL 1975 will take us back to October 11, 1975, the night when the first episode of Saturday Night Live took place. It will depict the chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t and follow a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers who changed TV forever.

Morris (New Girl), O’Brien (The Maze Runner), Smith (May December), and Wood (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) joined the cast as Garrett Morris, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, and John Belushi, respectively.

They’ll be in pretty good company on set since the cast of this project also includes Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels, Cooper Hoffman as Dick Ebersol, Rachel Sennott as Rosie Shuster, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, Emily Fairn as Laraine Newman, and Kim Matula as Jane Curtin.

Reitman conducted an extensive series of interviews with all the living cast members, writers, and crew alongside co-writer Gil Kenan before penning the script. They’ll also produce SNL 1975 alongside Jason Blumenfeld, Erica Mills, and Peter Rice.
