Ed Sheeran is ready to become a married man. He announced that he is engaged to his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn via post on Instagram, revealing that he “popped the question” before the New Year.
“Got myself a fiancé just before new year,” Sheeran wrote. “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”
He also posted a cute picture of him kissing Cherry.
Sheeran and Seaborn started dating in June 2015, shortly after the 26-year-old singer broke up with Athina Andrelos. Interesting thing is that the couple knew each other since childhood and were high school friends.
“I’ve known Cherry since I was 11,” said Sheeran to People magazine. “She worked on Wall Street in New York, and I had like six shows [around New York in 2015]. It was around then, and we reconnected. I went on tour again, and then I went to Taylor’s [Swift] 4th of July party. I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I.’ I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history.”
Ed Sheeran has a great year behind him, with his “÷” album becoming the fastest selling in UK’s history behind Adele’s 25 and Oasis’ Be Here Now. He was also Spotify’s most streamed artist of 2017. Sheeran’s most recent work was a collaboration with rapper Eminem on the song ‘River’ which was a part of Eminem’s album Revival.
