Season 3 of Ted Lasso came to an end on Wednesday, and Ed Sheeran helped the show sign off in the most amazing way. The British hitmaker wrote a new song “A Beautiful Game”, helping our favorite football coach say goodbye in a potential series finale.

Season 3 finale wrapped up the story of all our favorite fan characters, but Ted Lasso creators are yet to confirm if it will serve as the series finale. They left the door open for continuing the story without Jason Sudeikis’ character, and even Sheeran’s lyrics hint that this story could go on.

“Though we’ve not reached the end/We should take some time apart/Leave here with no regrets/Knowing we gave our all. Oh, I cannot pretend/That this won’t break our hearts/But we will meet again,” sings Sheeran in this emotional track.

The British singer is a huge fan of the Emmy-winning comedy, and he revealed that “A Beautiful Game” was one year in the making.

“I recorded bits of it whilst on tour using crowds from the stadiums that I’ve been playing, and I’m super, super, super proud of it. I love the show. I’ve loved working on this song. I hope you enjoy it – just a bit of fun,” said Sheeran on Instagram.
