Eddie Murphy Gives SNL Its Best Ratings in Two Years

Saturday Night Live earns its best ratings in over two years thanks to the return of Eddie Murphy. 

The funnyman and former SNL star returned to the show after more than three decades. The hosting gig was his first performance on the show since his last way back in 1984. 

According to live-plus-same-day “fast official” ratings from Nielsen Media Research, the episode earned the show’s biggest ratings in two and a half years. The show delivered a 2.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 9.921 million viewers overall in Live+Same Day.

The show also features one of the top music artists of the year, Lizzo, as the musical guest. It also featured appearances by Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan, Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Maya Rudolph, Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen, and Rachel Dratch.
