The 2016’s coming-of-age movie Edge of Seventeen is about to get a TV spinoff on YouTube Red. According to The Hollywood Reporter, YouTube’s subscription service has ordered a pilot based on the original movie with Annabel Oakes (Transparent) penning the script.

Written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, Edge of Seventeen had Hailee Steinfeld starring as a high school student Nadine who finds herself in an awkward position when her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson) starts dating her older brother Darian (Blake Jenner). The movie also starred Woody Harrelson as Nadine’s teacher Mr. Bruner.

“Kelly Fremon Craig created an honest, hilarious and heartbreaking film with The Edge of Seventeen. It went beyond most teen movies, and was able to captivate an audience beyond those in high school,” said YouTube head of comedy Dustin Davis in a statement. “We’re excited to work with the entire team at STXtv and have Annabel and Kelly create a series for YouTube Red using themes from the film as inspiration.”

Edge of Seventeen TV spinoff will have an entirely new cast and is set to revolve around a high school student and her best friend, as they try to navigate through realities of being a teenage girl. Kelly Fremon Craig will serve as an executive producer of the spinoff.

The original movie received critical acclaim upon its release and currently holds 95% approval rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. Hailee Steinfeld received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical category for her portrayal of Nadine.
