Will Ferrell and Bob Newhart in "Elf"

According to Ranker, Elf has been voted the best Christmas movie of all time.

The iconic Will Ferrell festive feature beat Christmas classics like Home Alone, The Polar Express, The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Santa Clause to the top spot. We’re hardly surprised given that Elf is just about the most lovable and wholesome movie we can think of.

For those of you who need your memory jogged, Elf tells the story of a man who has been raised as an elf in the North Pole. Eventually, he realizes that he is a lot taller than all of his elf friends and consequently decides to go on a hunt to the US for his biological father.

When it was released, the $33 million budget movie took in six times that at the box office. It has since been one of those movies that families watch over and over again every December. It might only be rated 6.9/10 on IMDB but regardless of what the critics say, everyone else can’t help but love it.
