We can always count on Eli Roth to release a new slasher just in time for the spooky season, and he has another one on the way! The first trailer for his upcoming horror movie Thanksgiving is here and it puts a gory twist on this beloved American holiday.
Roth’s new movie takes us to Plymouth, Massachusetts, the birthplace of Thanksgiving, where a mysterious serial killer terrorizes its citizens after a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy.
What starts as a random killing spree, which kicks off with the killer picking off residents one by one, turns out to be a part of a larger, sinister holiday plan.
Eli Roth directed the film from a screenplay written by Jeff Rendell, based on a story this duo developed together. The film’s ensemble cast includes Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaquel, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon.
Thanksgiving is a true treat for fans of the slasher genre, and it’s actually connected to Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 classic Grindhouse. The mock trailer for Thanksgiving was created for this film, and it’s the latest to be turned into an actual feature film, following in the footsteps of Machete and Hobo with a Shotgun.
Thanksgiving will be released on November 17 by Sony Pictures Releasing’s TriStar Pictures.
