From Mad Men to The Invisible Man.

Elisabeth Moss has officially signed on to star in the film based on the character created by H. G. Wells in his 1897 novel of the same name.

The Invisible Man is the story of a scientist who manages to bend light, rendering him invisible. It was adapted for screen in 1933, with the science-fiction horror now set to return with a fresh new feel.

Johnny Depp was originally set to star in the film which would feature as part of the Dark Universe which also included Tom Cruise’s poorly-received The Mummy.

When the initial producers moved on to other projects, it looked as though the Dark Universe had collapsed. Instead, Universal announced earlier this year that it would make films based on the classic monsters, starting with a remake of The Invisible Man.

Leigh Whannell is both writing and directing the feature, with The Handmaid’s Tale actress now officially onboard to play Cecilia Kass.

We’ll try keep an eye on this one.
