The first trailer for Hulu’s satirical period piece, The Great, has been released.
Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult will star in the comedy, which is loosely based on historical facts. Fanning will play Catherine the Great, the outsider married to Emperor Peter (Hoult) and she marries her way into the Russian monarch and goes on to become Russian’s longest-reigning leader.
The Great is written by Tony Mcnamara, the Oscar-nominated co-writer of The Favourite, another satirical period piece starring Hoult.
In the trailer, we see Emperor Peter, self-proclaimed as “the most loved ruler in all of Russian history” throwing fruit at servants and screaming “rabbit!” when he hunts them in the woods.
Phoebe Fox, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Sacha Dhawan, Sebastian de Souza, Bayo Gbadamosi, and Belinda Bromilow also star in the film.
The Great premiers May 15 on Hulu and you can watch the trailer below.
