Elton John may be one of the biggest British music legends of all time, but it’s been a while since he hit no 1. in his home country. That finally changed thanks to his Dua Lipa collaboration “Cold Heart”, which became his first chart-topping UK single in 16 years.

After three consecutive weeks at no. 2, “Cold Heart” replaced Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers” on the top spot. There’s no bad blood between the two artists, and Sheeran even asked his fans to go buy and stream “Cold Heart” and help John achieve this historic feat.

The 74-year-old British hitmaker celebrated his latest chart achievement by sharing a photo that shows him recovering from hip replacement surgery, and took a moment to express gratitude to everyone involved in his latest success.

“Thank you Dua, PNAU and to everyone who streamed, downloaded, and listened to ‘Cold Heart’! You’ve made me feel infinitely better after my surgery and I can’t wait for you to hear the whole of The Lockdown Sessions when it comes out next week!” wrote John on Instagram.

The Lockdown Sessions is set to hit the shelves on October 22nd, and it will also feature collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Lil Nas X, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, Charlie Puth, and many more.
