Elvis’ Biopic Sets 2021 Release Date

The Baz Luhrmann-directed biopic will hit theaters in the fall of 2021.

Three weeks after casting Austin Butler as the feature’s headliner, Warner Bros announced that their still-untitled Elvis Presley biopic is set to premiere on October 21, 2021.

Per the studio’s official description, the biopic will “delve into [Elvis and his manager’s] complex dynamic spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and the loss of innocence in America.”

Luhrmann also co-wrote the script with Craig Pearce.

In more scheduling news, Warner Bros pushed the Dune adaptation back one month to December 18, 2020. Based on the 1965 Frank Herbert novel of the same name, the film stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Stephen Henderson, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.
