Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson had the time of their lives working on Disney’s Jungle Cruise, and they’re gearing up for another collaboration. The Oscar-nominated Oppenheimer actress is in talks to join Johnson in his next film The Smashing Machine.

This film hails from writer and director Benny Safdie, and it follows the journey of the MMA champion Mark Kerr. This biopic will take us to the no-holds-barred era of the UFC, and see the legendary fighter struggle with addiction, winning, love, and friendship in the year 2000.

Johnson will play Kerr in this promising project, while Blunt is expected to join him as Kerr’s wife Dawn Staples, who’s struggling to find her place within his chaotic and contradictory world while trying to build a future together.

Blunt and Johnson have proven to be quite a dynamic duo while co-starring in Disney’s Jungle Cruise in 2021. Despite mixed reviews and modest box office gains, Disney greenlit the sequel of this fantasy adventure film, with the leading duo reprising their roles.

Blunt is currently in the running for her first Academy Award for her supporting turn in Oppenheimer. She’ll next appear alongside Ryan Gosling in David Leitch’s action comedy The Fall Guy, which will have its world premiere at SXSW later this month.
