After four seasons starring as nurse Nicolette ‘Nic’ Nevin, Emily VanCamp is leaving Fox’s The Resident.

In Season 4 of the medical drama, VanCamp’s real-life pregnancy was incorporated into her storyline with Nic giving birth to a daughter. The Season 5 promo, which was released this week, reveals a shocking twist including a scene where two police officers arrive to deliver bad news to Nic’s husband Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) and their daughter.

“If you thought last season changed everything, just wait,” the video shared.

The Resident debuted in 2018 and was renewed for its fifth season earlier this year. It follows the lives of staff members at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Jessica Lucas, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Jane Leeves, and Morris Chestnut are part of the cast.

VanCamp plays Agent Sharon Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and she reprised her role in Disney Plus’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Season 5 debuts on September 21.
