Emma Roberts and Jack Whitehall will be starring in the sci-fi independent comedy Robots.

Anthony Hines is directing the film which is based on a short story by Robert Sheckely. It’s set in a near-future America and tells the story of a womanizer and gold digger who trick people into getting in relationships with illegal robot doubles of themselves. But, when they scam each other, their robots end up falling for each other and get married, which causes the pair to try and find their robots before the authorities do.

Hines is the writing partner of Sacha Baron Cohen and wrote the scripts for Borat, Bruno, Who is America?, and Da Ali G Show.

“When this project was first conceived, it seemed relevant—at the risk of sounding incredibly self-important—it now seems almost necessary,” Hines said. “Set against a backdrop of an America seeded by the current administration, empathy has been devalued and one underclass has been expelled, only to be replaced by another: Robots.”
