Emma Stone is receiving a lot of Oscar buzz for her performance in Poor Things, and first awards are already rolling in. She’s been set as the recipient of the Desert Palm Achievement for the best actress at the upcoming Palm Springs Film Festival.

Stone will receive this award for her recent performance in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, which was honored with the Golden Lion in Venice earlier this year. She plays a young woman trying to adjust to the world around her after being brought back to life by an eccentric scientist. The film also stars Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe, and it will be released on December 8.

Palm Spring Festival chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi announced Stone as the next recipient of this honorary award and said there’s no one better suited for this achievement.

“Emma Stone continues to exert influence as one of the most important actresses of this generation, whose performances are always exceptional no matter the role. In her latest film Poor Things, Emma delivers a burning intensity and character bound for liberation,” said Chandi in a statement.

The Palm Springs Film Festival will take place between January 4 and 15, and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon has been chosen as the recipient of the Vanguard Award.
