Emma Stone has exited Babylon due to scheduling issues and Margot Robbie is in early talks to replace her.

After Paramount landed the rights to the film a year ago, Stone and Brad Pitt were set to star in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon. The film is an R-rated period drama that takes place during the transition from silent films to talkies. Fictional and re-life characters will be featured in the film.

Babylon will be produced by Olivia Hamilton, Matt Plouffe, Marc Platt, and Tobey Maguire. The film is set for a Christmas Day 2021 release.

Robbie is best known for her role as Harley Quinn in DC Comics’ The Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey. She also starred as Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with Pitt. Her next role is in the follow-up to The Suicide Squad, which stars production in January.

Robbie received an Oscar nomination for best-supporting actress for her role in Bombshell this year and she received a nod for best actress in 2018 for her role as Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.
