Emma Thompson is one of those actresses who makes every project she stars in 100% better, and she’s getting ready to do the same with Disney’s Cruella. The British actress is in early talks to join Emma Stone in the live-action flick, inspired by the animated classic 101 Dalmatians.

This highly-anticipated film, helmed by I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie, will follow the adventures of one of Disney’s most notorious villains – puppy bandit and fur lover Cruella de Vil. Cruella is set to be released on December 23, 2020, and Emma Stone is currently the only confirmed member of the cast.

It’s unclear who’s Emma Thompson going to play if she decides to accept this role, but she’s no stranger to Disney. She recently played Mrs. Potts in the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, and that’s not her most successful project with this studio. Back in 2013, Thompson portrayed Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers in Saving Mr. Banks. She received critical acclaim for her performance and went on to snag nominations for several major awards – including Golden Globe and BAFTA.
