“Empire” Ending Earlier Than Expected – But There Could Be More

Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson in "Empire"

Empire is one of the shows that shot its production early due to the coronavirus pandemic, and its final episode is expected to air next week, but the masterminds behind it say they’re still not done telling their story.

The last episode of Empire is expected to air on Fox on April 21st, but co-creator Lee Daniels is hoping they’ll be able to give our favorite hip-hop family a proper send-off once things return to normal and it’s safe to get the cast and the crew back together.

“I think there’s more to do with these characters, and I’m heartbroken we aren’t getting to shoot the finale we wanted – at least not yet. But you know what they say in television? Stay tuned! To the Empire!” said Lee in a statement.

Co-creator Danny Strong echoed his statement and expressed his hope that they’ll be able to give this series its proper conclusion one day by filming the ending they planned from the beginning, and that they all loved.
