The hit horror movie The Black Phone is returning for a sequel in 2025, and the entire original cast is on board! Ethan Hawke will return as the main villain the Grabber, along with the rest of the cast from Scott Derrickson’s first film in the series.

Based on Joe Hill’s short story of the same name, The Black Phone centered on a 13-year-old boy Finney, trying to escape a serial child killer after being abducted. While locked in a soundproof basement in his home, Finney starts receiving mysterious calls from the killer’s past victims.

In addition to the four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke as the Grabber, the first film in the series also starred Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora, all set to return in the upcoming sequel. Its release date has already been set, and it will hit the theaters on June 27, 2025.

Scott Derrickson previously told Comic Book that he’d be on board to direct another The Black Phone movie after the author Joe Hill pitched him a great idea for the sequel.

“Joe Hill pitched me a wonderful idea for a sequel to Black Phone that, if this movie does well, I’m gonna do it. Joe’s very protective and personal about his material, but he came to me with the idea and I was like, ‘That’s how you do a sequel to Black Phone. That’s terrific,'” said Derrickson.
