The euphoria is set to continue.

HBO’s controversial series has dismissed the haters by moving forward with a second season of Euphoria.

Based on an Israeli series, Zendaya stars as a former drug addict who has just been released from rehab and makes friends with a new girl in town.

The series depicts graphic sex, violence, and drug use, with over 5.5 million viewers having tuned in to the series’ premiere on June 16th.

Euphoria creator, Sam Levinson, has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya. We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series,” HBO’s executive vice-president of programming, Francesca Orsi, said in a statement. “We look forward to following these complex characters as their journeys continue through the challenging world they inhabit.”

The first season of Euphoria ends on August 4th, with no date set for season two as yet.
