The Gotham Awards returned to celebrate the best independent movies of the past year on Monday night and the top prize went to the clear front-runner. Everything Everywhere All at Once topped the list of winners and took the award for the best feature home.

The Daniels’s critically acclaimed multiverse sci-fi comedy is one of the most-talked-about movies of 2022, so it wasn’t a shocker that impressed the Gotham voters. It defeated Aftersun, The Cathedral, Dos Estaciones, and Tár to win the night’s top award – best feature.

Ke Huy Quan also won the award for outstanding supporting performance for his role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, while his co-star Michelle Yeoh lost out the award for outstanding lead performance to Danielle Deadwyler in Till. Both categories were gender-neutral after Gotham Awards introduced this change last year.

The list of major winners included best documentary feature All That Breathes, best international feature Happening, and best screenwriter Todd Field for Tár.

When it comes to TV categories, only four awards were presented this year—breakthrough long-form series (Pachinko), breakthrough short-form series (Mo), breakthrough nonfiction series (We Need to Talk About Cosby), and outstanding performance in a new series (Ben Whishaw in This Is Going to Hurt).
