Everything Everywhere All At Once is one of the front-runners in this year’s Oscars race and its chances have just gotten a little bit better. The Directors Guild of America Awards took place on Saturday night and this absurdist sci-fi dramedy was the biggest winner of the night.

The film’s directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert picked up the award for the best feature, and they had to face tough competition to come out victorious. The list of contenders also included Todd Field (Tár), Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin), and Steven Spielberg (The Fabelmans).

The list of major winners in the motion picture field also included Charlotte Wells, who won the trophy for the best first-time feature film with Aftersun. She was joined by Sara Dosa, who was awarded the best documentary award for Fire of Love.

When it comes to the television field, Euphoria was named best drama series with Sam Levinson picking up a trophy for directing the episode “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird”. Barry dominated the comedy field and Bill Hader collected the award for the episode “710N”.

The 75th Directors Guild of America Awards took place on February 18, with Judd Apatow serving as a host.
