Evvie McKinney is the First Winner of “The Four: Battle for Stardom”

The first season of Fox’ new competitive singing show The Four: Battle for Stardom has wrapped up on Thursday night. The show’s judges Meghan Trainor, DJ Khaled and Sean “Diddy” Combs had a tough job on picking the winner since all four finalists performed exceptionally well. But at the end, they had to choose one person to take the title of the winner between Candice Boyd, Vincint Cannady, Evvie McKinney and Zhavia.

As it turned out, the 20-year-old Evvie McKinney has left the strongest impact on the judges and took home the victory.

McKinney performed Bill Withers’ classic “Ain’t No Sunshine” in the finals and when you hear it, you’ll know why she is a winner.

The Four: Battle for Stardom already proved out to be a big hit for the network, becoming the most watched new unscripted show on television in the last four years. What made the show so appealing was a twist on the classic format of competitive singing shows. In the first episode, four contestants were selected to compete in the show. After that, in each next episode, they would face competition from the new participants who were trying to take their place.

How much Fox believes in The Four: Battle for Stardom shows the fact that the network renewed it for season two even before the final episode aired.

“‘The Four’ is truly a next-generation show,” said Rob Wade, president, alternative series and specials, Fox Broadcasting Company. “It has pushed past the boundaries of traditional music competition series by focusing on recording artists in an epic battle to become a superstar. And for the winner, guided by music giants Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor, and Republic Records, this is just the beginning. We’d like to thank our panel, our ringleader, Fergie, the contestants and our incredible production team for delivering concert-quality shows every week. And we look forward to pushing the boundaries even further in Season Two.”

In case you think you have what it takes to compete on the show, the auditions are open as of now.
