It’s hard to say goodbye to good TV characters. This Sunday, the cast of Family Guy reminded us just that as they paid a heartfelt tribute to one of their own: Carrie Fisher—the beloved actress that stole many hearts while starring in the Star Wars series, Family Guy and many more.

Family Guy combined a mix of lighthearted and somber lines, explaining how Angela (Carrie’s character) died while also paying tribute to the type of person she was. Peter Griffin (actor Seth MacFarlane) led the tribute, quoting the Friends theme song and the Mary Tyler Moore Show theme songs among many others.

Peter described Angela’s cause of death as swimming less than 20 minutes after eating. Then, the star character got into a serious mode, describing Angela as though he was talking directly about Fisher.

“That was Angela—fearless, spontaneous, honest about herself just as much as she was about the world around her,” Griffin said. “She had grace, courage and an unmated zest for life. She may be gone, but her voice will live on in DVD and Hulu Plus and tiny droid-projected messages. I may have lost a boss, but heaven has gained a princess.”

Angela was Peter’s boss in the movie. Her cause of death in real life was cardiac arrest, in late December 2016.
