Lovers of Avicii were lonely together as they celebrated the life of the late DJ.
The Swede — whose real name was Tim Bergling —passed away in April in Oman, with the suspected cause of death being suicide, as alluded to by his family:
“He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace. Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.”
Hundreds of fans gathered in the Hedvig Eleonora Church in Stockholm on Friday to pay their respects to the music producer who took them to multiple levels with his songs.
The memorial service was organized by the 28-year-old’s family and featured the choir performing renditions of his famous tracks.
Avicii was laid to rest in an intimate funeral in June, making this the first time that fans have had the opportunity to say goodbye.
