Claudi Kim, who plays the human version of Nagini in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald urges fans to give the Nagini storyline a chance.

Following the release of the film’s final trailer, J.K. Rowling and the film creators have faced backlash over the revelation that Lord Voldemort’s pet snake Nagini is, in fact, an Asian woman. Many consider the decision to reinforce negative stereotypes of Asian women.

The actress who plays Nagini, however, urges fans to give the storyline a chance and to embrace a completely different side of the woman turned snake.

“I think It would be so interesting to see another side of Nagini,” she said to Entertainment Weekly. “You’ve only seen her as Horcrux. In this, she’s a wonderful and vulnerable woman who wants to live, she wants to stay a human being and I think that’s a wonderful contrast to the character.”

Ezra Miller who plays Credence Barebone added: “You’re about to get your head blown off. There’s going to be a venom in your veins that you’ll feel just like love. Prepare yourselves for Nagini. This is a tragic and beautiful story that in some ways we already know the end of.”

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released in cinemas on November 16, 2018.
