Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald opening box office weekend did not charm domestically by enchanted overseas.

Moviegoers across 4,163 locations in the US and Canada were not too impressed with the second installment of J.K. Rowling’s wizarding franchise. The film brought in a $62 million debut domestically, well below the projected $65 million to $75 million range.

It is the lowest debut yet for a big-screen adaptation of a J.K. Rowling novel. According to Entertainment Weekly, the first installment, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, opened with $74.4 million in 2016, while the lowest opening for a film in the original Harry Potter series was $77.1 million, fo Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

While domestically it performed below par, it did lead the foreign box office with a massive $191 million. “The global response has been fantastic on this film,” said Ron Sanders, Warner Bros.’ head of worldwide distribution. “Having the foreign locations featured helps.”
