We can always count on Fast & Furious movies to speed to impressive box office numbers, but Fast X exceeded our wildest expectations. The latest installment in the action franchise is off to a great start after scoring an impressive $319 million global opening.

Fast X scored the second biggest opening of 2023 and became the seventh-highest-grossing film of the year after only a few days in the theaters. It also scored the third biggest global launch for the franchise, only behind The Fate of the Furious and Furious 7.

Fast X was projected to gross around $280 million in its opening weekend, but it managed to exceed expectations. It grossed $67.5 million in North America, and $251.4 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $318.9 million, against the budget of $340 million.

Fast X sees Dom Toretto cross paths with the most lethal opponent he’s ever faced—a terrifying villain Dante Reyes, who emerged from the shadows of the past, determined to avenge his father’s death and loss of his family’s fortune.

Vin Diesel returns as Dom Toretto, with Jason Momoa joining him as Dante Reyes, while the rest of the cast includes Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, and Charlize Theron.
