Kevin Hart proves that he’s more than just a comedic actor in Netflix’s trailer for Fatherhood.

Fatherhood is based on a script from Matthew Logelin’s true-life memoir Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love and Dana Stevens and Paul Weitz are adapting it. Hart plays Matt, a single dad who brings up his daughter Maddy (Melody Hurd) after his wife passes away unexpectedly a day after giving birth. He does everything he can to be the best father to Maddy, dealing with lots of challenges along the way.

Also starring in the film are Alfre Woodard, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Anthony Carrigan, and Paul Reiser. The film is produced by Marty Bowen, Hart, David Beaubaire, and Peter Kiernan. Betsy Danbury, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth, Bryan Smiley, Jaclyn Huntling Swatt, Isaac Klausner, Channing Tatum, and Reid Carolin are executive producing.

Fatherhood will be released on Father’s Day Weekend on June 18. Check out the dramatic trailer below.
