It’s been only a year since NBC canceled its hit fantasy series Grimm, but they’re already thinking about bringing it back. The network is currently working on an intriguing spin-off with a female protagonist.

The new show will be building off the mythology of the original and some of the fan favorites are bound to return. The brand-new Grimm will also feature new characters, new dangers, and new mysteries.

Melissa Glenn, best known for her work on The CW’s Beauty and the Beast, will be writing the untitled spin-off. She’ll also serve as executive producer, alongside Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner. Creators of the original series David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf will return as consulting producers. The cast is yet to be announced, but fans will probably get to see some the members of the original ensemble.

Grimm aired on NBC for six seasons, between 2011 and 2017. It followed adventures of a detective Nick Burkhardt, whose life is turned upside down after discovering he’s a Grimm – a descendant of hunters who fight supernatural forces.
