Filming is underway on “A Quiet Place: Part II”

John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds in "A Quiet Place"

We’re screaming with joy that the sequel to A Quiet Place has gotten underway!

The horror thriller proved to be a major hit when it was released last year and scored a plethora of award nominations, in addition to its star, Emily Blunt, winning the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role.

The Mary Poppins Returns star is set to reprise her role as Evelyn Abbott alongside her real-life husband, John Krasinki, who also helmed the film and will fulfill the same duty for the sequel.

This will be The Office actor’s second-ever time in the director’s chair, with him revealing via Twitter that production has begun.

According to the tweet, which includes a filming clapperboard, it appears as though the follow-up to A Quiet Place is being referred to as Part II.

“I actually didn’t want anything to do with a sequel,” Krasinski initially said. “Not out of any negative aversion but that I thought we had sort of explored something really special and unique. And then I had this very small idea and what it was is that this is a world that you can play in. This isn’t just a character to remake or a group of characters or a story, it’s actually a world. Which is a whole different, very unique experience.”

A Quiet Place: Part II is scheduled for release on March 20th, 2020.
