The release date of Mean Girls: The Musical is just a week away, and Paramount Pictures dropped the final trailer ahead of its premiere. “The Plastics” are back and more fabulous than ever in the adaptation of the Broadway musical based on the 2000s teen comedy.

Paramount Pictures’ official logline describes this film as a new twist on the modern classic, and it sees the new student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) learning how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.

In addition to Rice, the new version also stars Reneé Rapp as the conniving queen bee Regina George, Bebe Wood and Avantika as her minions Gretchen and Karen, Christopher Briney as Regina’s ex and Cady’s love interest Aaron Samuels, and Auli’i Cravalho and Jaquel Spivey as her outcast friends Janis and Damian.

Tina Fey and Tim Meadows will reprise their roles from the original Mean Girls movie, and they’ll be joined by Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, Jon Hamm, and Ashley Park in supporting roles.

Fey also returned to write the script for this musical comedy, directed by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr. The film will have its world premiere in New York on January 8, before heading to theatres on January 12.
