It’s been almost three decades since the last film in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise came out, and its follow-up is just around the corner. The fourth installment of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley is coming to Netflix next year, and the first look at Eddie Murphy in this highly-anticipated sequel is finally here.

The first image of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley was unveiled as a part of Empire’s 2024 Preview issue, and it shows the titular character with his hands up in front of cops, while a group of onlookers records the incident on their phones.

Jerry Bruckheimer is returning as a producer, and he promised another epic performance from Murphy. “Anytime he walks on set, you never know what you’re going to get. And it’s always pretty brilliant. Every day he’s there throws you back to the ‘80s,” Bruckheimer told Empire.

He also praised his co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and said he’s a great straight man for Murphy, adding they make a hysterical duo.

In addition to Murphy and Gordon-Levitt, Beverly Hills Cop 4 will also star Kevin Bacon, Taylour Paige, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot. It’s the first installment in this franchise since Beverly Hills Cop III in 1994, and Netflix is yet to announce its release date.
