Ferrari is one of the most-anticipated films premiering at this year’s Venice International Film Festival, and we finally know what to expect once it hits the theatres. The first teaser trailer was released ahead of the festival’s opening, and it sees Adam Driver playing Enzo Ferrari, the formidable founder of Ferrari.

Ferrari is set in the summer of 1957, and it takes us back behind the spectacle of Formula 1 and into Enzo Ferrari’s tumultuous life. His volatile marriage with his wife Laura has been battered by the loss of their son Dino and his affair with Lina Lardi.

Enzo is also dealing with a potential bankruptcy, which threatens the factory he and his wife Laura built ten years ago. Meanwhile, his passionate drivers are embarking on the ride of their lives – the treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Mille Miglia.

In addition to Driver in the lead role, Ferrari also stars Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Sarah Gordon, Gabriel Leone, Jack O’Connell, and Patrick Dempsey. Michael Mann directed the film, while Troy Kennedy Martin wrote the script, based on Brock Yates’ book Enzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine.

Ferrari will premiere in Venice on August 31 before heading to theatres on December 25.
