Every comic book lover has been on the edge of their seat after it was announced that Tom Hardy will portray Eddie Brock aka Venom in the character’s standalone movie. Now we finally got the first look at the movie, with the teaser trailer being released by Sony Pictures.

Unfortunately, this trailer doesn’t reveal much of the story. There are some action scenes, a couple of hints but nothing specific. It is possible that Sony is just keeping us on our toes, but the first look at the movie doesn’t excite us as much as we hoped. Venom is set for release on October 5, 2018. We just hope that it will contain more Venom than the trailer suggests. You can check out the trailer below.

Venom is Marvel’s anti-hero/villain, best known as arch-nemesis of Spider-Man. He is a Symbiote, who requires a human host to survive. After bonding with humans, he transfers his superpowers onto them.

The character’s live-action movie debut came in the third installment of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy when Topher Grace portrayed Venom’s host, journalist Eddie Brock. The studio initially started working on Venom’s standalone movie in 2007 but faced difficulties in development. Finally, in 2016, it was announced that Tom Hardy, a longtime fan of the character, agreed to portray the role of Eddie Brock with Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) attached as a director. Besides Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Reid Scott also joined the cast.

According to Fleischer, the movie is primarily based on the Venom: Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes comic book arcs. “I can promise you badass action, Venom’s dark humor, and I can also promise you an absolutely stunning performance by Tom Hardy,” – he added.

Sony also revealed that Venom won’t be a spinoff of the most recent Spider-Man movie, 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
