Disney has unveiled the first trailer for The Lion King live-action remake.

The live-action remake is directed by Jon Favreau, who bought us the breath-taking remake of The Jungle Book in 2016.

The cast includes Donald Clover as Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi and JD McCrary as Young Simba. Also on the cast list is  Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen, who will be voicing the ‘Hakuna Matata’ duo, Timon and Pumbaa. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter will be voicing Nala and James Earl Jones will be reprising his role as Mufasa from the original Disney animated film.

You can watch the trailer here:

“Everything the light touches is our kingdom. But a king’s time as ruler rises and falls like the sun,” Mufassa wisely announces. “One day, the sun will set on my time here and will rise with you as the new king.

The trailer then depicts the iconic scene when Rafiki holds up baby Simba to the Animal Kingdom and they all bow down to their future king.

The trailer is only 90 seconds long but it is enough to get us excited about the full movie, which will be released in cinemas July 19, 2019.
