We saw photos and got teased in the past few weeks, but finally, the first trailer for Ocean’s 8 is here. The sequel to Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Trilogy is one of the most anticipated movies of 2018 and it isn’t hard to see why. With a star cast that includes Sandra Bullock, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, Sarah Paulson, and Helena Bonham Carter, Ocean’s 8 promises to be an action-packed piece which will leave us asking for more. It looks like everything we liked in the original films is here, so mark June 8, 2018, on your calendars. Check out the trailer below.

Ocean’s 8 entered development in 2015, when producer Jerry Weintraub alongside Steven Soderbergh and the star of the original trilogy George Clooney (Danny Ocean) conceived an idea of an all-female cast spin-off. Olivia Milch was brought in to write the script while Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) took on the directing role. The movie will feature Danny’s estranged sister Debbie, assembling a crew in order to pull off a heist of the century at the New York City’s annual Met Gala. It was also revealed that Matt Damon will have a cameo in the movie.

The original Ocean’s Trilogy starred ensemble cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon among others and earned more than $1.1 billion at the box office combined. The movies were especially praised for being fun and full of action. Following the release of Ocean’s Thirteen, both director Soderbergh and Clooney said they wanted to finish strong with the third movie and that there are no sequels planned for the future. After actor Bernie Mac, who starred in all three movies, passed away in 2008, Soderbergh said that Ocean’s Fourteen is unlikely.
