“Flashdance” TV Reboot in Works

Jennifer Beals in "Flashdance"

The 1983 Paramount movie Flashdance is getting a 2020 update and is in early development at CBS All Access.

Tracy McMillian is set to write the script and Angela Robinson is on board to direct the potential series.

Flashdance was producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s first blockbuster hit and the first of many successful features for Paramount with partner Don Simpson.

The reboot will be about a young Black woman with ballet dreams who works in a strip club and struggles to find her place while dealing with money, romance, art, friendship, and learning to love herself.

Flashdance stared Jennifer Beals and it became a pop-cultural phenomenon with one of the most famous soundtracks of all time. Beals played a welder who dreamed of being a ballet dancer.
